Lipodissolve: A History of Safety

Formulations of PC/DC have been used worldwide since 1954. Good data has been kept since 1995, and in over 24,000 treatments, there have been no reports of serious side effects or deaths when administered by qualified medical professionals. The main substances injected are present in the body already and are essential for our health.  Still, as with any medical procedure, there is always a risk that long-term side effects, not presently known or forseen today, could occur.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects to be expected, as a result of the beneficial inflammatory response, consist of swelling, redness, and tenderness, beginning shortly after the injections and lasting about 20-30 minutes.  Swelling, and some bruising will increase over the next 24 hours, and will gradually resolve over the next 5 days or so.  In about 10-14 days, there will be some hardening of the area, and you will likely be able to feel the formation of small, hard bumps or "rope-like" areas.  This is a good sign that the treatment is working.  It is very important to massage these areas daily to help break up the fat cells and move the "debris" to the lymph system.  These symptoms will continue to resolve over the next several weeks.  Regular exercise, massage and/or the use of our K-1 whole body vibration machine and a healthy low-fat diet will help speed this process.

If several areas, particularly the abdomen, are treated, there can be mild abdominal discomfort, nausea, or possibly diarrhea during the first few days. Occasionally, in susceptible people, there can also be allergic reactions or lightheadedness, which can generally be avoided by careful review of your history and approriate preventative measures by our physician.  If you are prone to lightheadedness or fainting, we advise you to bring a driver with you.

Very, very rarely, even under the best circumstances, it is still possible to develop necrosis of healthy surrounding tissue, abscesses, or infections.
