The Lipodissolve ProcedureYour PractitionerLipodissolve is performed by Nancy Richardson, M.D., our medical director and Cate Christensen, C-NP, our nurse practitioner. Both practitioners are trained, experienced, and certified in the treatment of Lipodissolve. It is important that any person performing Lipodissolve be trained by a credible medical association specializing in lipodissolve and mesotherapy. Number of TreatmentsMost patients will need at least 2 treatments to see changes. Some people may need less, some will want 4 or more treatments to achieve desired results. It will depend on how dense the fat is in a particular area and how well you respond to Lipodissolve. Most people are satisfied with their results in 2 to 4 treatments. Areas Covered in a Single TreatmentWe define one "area" as about a 24" circumference, or the size of the perimeter around a typical women's two hands, held side by side. Up to three areas may be treated at one time. People vary in size, so one person's belly may be one area, whereas someone with a larger belly may require two areas. Any followup treatments on the same areas will need to occur after one month. Body areas that may be treated include thighs, belly, love handles, buttocks, chin, bra bulge, and arms. TechniqueMost of the time, we use a special injector device, to deliver the medications as quickly and painlessly as possible. Very tiny needles are used, much like those used for allergy shots. The injections are about 5/8-3/4 inch apart and only go in about 1/4-1/2 inch deep. In one standard area, there are typically about 60 injections. Most people state they only feel a very small percentage of the actual injections. Occasionally, our practitioners will choose to inject the medications by hand using a needle and syringe. What to Expect After the ProcedureRest assured, we will provide you with complete pre- and post- care instructions and information at the initial consultation and after the procedure. Mostly, you will want to just take it easy for a couple of days. We will call you after the procedure to make sure you are doing fine, and you are welcome to come in and see us afterwards if you have any concerns. Side effects [pain, swelling, bruising, etc.] require ice packs on the day of the treatment, but begin to subside after 1-3 days. Patients can perform their normal daily activities, although at a slightly lower pace for a couple of days. Avoid vigorous exercise for 48 hours. Hot showers should be avoided for 8 hours. When scheduling your appointment, consider other activities you may have planned for the next few days. You may want to minimize travel for the first few days following your treatment. Avoid those activities that would involve extra pressure or repetitive movements in the areas that have been treated. |
